Hello! My name is Thomas Becker. I am currently working as a research aide at the Institute for Policy and Social Research at the University of Kansas. I graduated from KU in 2019 with a B.A. in History and Economics, along with an English minor. I set up this website as a place for my personal projects outside of work.

My main focus is data visualization and its applications in my community. On my down time, I like to do projects that relate to my own personal interests, including music and ichthyology (well, recreational fishing really but ichthyology sounds better). I aim to maintain some figures and analysis that are meaningful to me on this website utilizing public data and open-source software. For all the visualizations I have done so far, I have used Altair, a visualization library for Python that is based on Vega and Vega-Lite.
